We began in the cattle business in 1962. Our 1st Brangus bulls were purchased in 1972. We bought several registered Brangus bulls to put on Lineone bred Herefords and Hereford cross cows which proved very successful. Then in 1973 we went to the Diamond A sale in Roswell, New Mexico and purchased 7 registered Brangus cows with 7 heifer calves. Soon after that we began to phase out some of our Hereford cows and replace with Brangus. All our registered Brangus cattle today on our two ranches descended from the original 7 Brangus cows and heifers. We have never gone outside to buy heifers or cows; and, we kept and replaced cows year after year from our own heifer calves and continue to do this in the present day. Through the 30 years we have been breeding Brangus we have always strived to breed our cows to the best registered Brangus bulls we could find. Most of our herd sires have come from Brinks Brangus who were without a doubt the leading Brangus breeders for many years. Big Easy of Brinks 589F29 was one of the best bulls we have ever had. This bull was recently located just outside Elgin, Texas at Blackland Brangus owned by Cody and Leah Douglas. He was a moderate size bull with everything necessary to be one of the all time great herd sires. Brangus Cattle are in the midst of change mostly for the better. We will continue to try to breed the best cattle for you that we possibly can. Jack L. Douglas |
