The Winter Herd

Space

It’s not all green grass and lake water on the South Plains of Texas. We sometimes get caught calving in the snow and ice as we did in January 2007. Here are some pictures of our 1st calf heifers calving at Littlefield Texas in north Hockley county mostly unassisted.

We pay close attention to the heifers and we were feeding them hay every day since the grass was covered with snow and ice. We also pay close attention to the birth weights of the bulls that breed our heifers. This is proof our cattle can go and adjust to any country and any situation. These heifers are Ultra Blacks or Angus Plus heifers. ‘’ Just A Better Brangus’’ as Glenn Brinkman has said.
